You never know where a photography class or group will lead you. For me, I’m excited to say that not only have I made great friends and learned so much about photography but due to my 10 on 10 group and my Picture Everyday photography class, I’ve also had several photos recently chosen to be available for licensing through The Flickr Collection on Getty Images.
How they were discovered I really don’t know. Like many photographers (both professional and casual), I store a fair bit of my photos on Flickr and I participate (sporadically) in a variety of different photo groups. I’m not great at posting consistently and I often forget to tag my photos, but luckily a Getty curator stumbled upon a few of my images that they liked and emailed me a request to submit them.
Whether or not those images will sell doesn’t really matter to me (although don’t get me wrong…that would be fantastic!)….it’s the excitement of having my photos found and acknowledged as something unique and interesting. It’s like a little added bonus. I’d take those photos anyway, because that is just what I do. I love photography and capturing moments both mundane and momentous. And having them noticed by Getty Images is just icing on the cake.
Here are a few that were recently selected…they include forks and feet. To see my other images, feel free to click here. It will be fast…there aren’t that many (only 6)…but who knows, maybe my collection will grow.
