Florida Getaway | November 7 on 7

Last week I went to Anna Maria Island, Florida to visit one of my college besties (we’ve been friends since we were 18). We had such a great time together hanging out in the hot Florida sun. Anna Maria Island is beautiful. It is a charming little town located an hour from Tampa. The beaches are gorgeous….they stretch out for miles with white, powder-like sand….so different from our California beaches. And the water, oh my goodness…it is so nice and warm!

Every day we walked the beaches, swam in the ocean and enjoyed the beautiful sunsets. It was such a great week and made even better because I spent it with one of my best friends. Ready to see this storage room get a glow up? What used to be random storage space is now my little creative corner. I’ve got room for all my photography gear and my craft supplies — everything in one place. Plus I’m able to put our extra furniture to good use. 😊

One of my recent branding sessions was out at @_littlevineyards, and instead of headshots or product photos… I was photographing sheep. 🐑

These adorable little workers were out in the vineyard, naturally mowing the grass between the vines to prep for this season’s growth. It was such a fun way to visually tell the winery’s story — sustainability, care for the land, and thoughtful farming practices — all in one frame.

Branding photos don’t always have to be you smiling at the camera. Sometimes they’re the behind-the-scenes moments that show what makes your business so special. ...

One of my favorite ways to do a branding shoot? Take it out of the studio and into your world.

Your business has a personality — and the space you work in is part of that story.
When I recently photographed Jodi Janzen of @janzendesign we headed to @ceramictilecenter in San Rafael for part of her photo shoot. And it was SO much fun. Think, giant slabs of stone, gorgeous tiles and lots of color. It instantly showed what she actually does.

There’s something powerful about capturing the behind-the-scenes moments — flipping through samples, studying finishes, walking the aisles dreaming up ideas. That’s where your expertise comes alive.

If you’re an interior designer, let’s shoot at a tile showroom.
If you’re a winery, let`s meander through the vineyard.
If you’re a stylist, let’s be in your closet pulling looks.
Your brand photos should feel like you in action — not just you standing and smiling.
