Last week we joined some of our friends on a house boating trip on Lake Shasta. I had never been there before (despite living in California for over 20 years), so I was very excited to go and check out this area. Unfortunately, due to the terrible drought we are having here in California the water levels were very low (over 180 feet below regular levels with the lake dropping another 6-8 inches each day…eek!).
The low water levels didn’t keep us from having an awesome vacation. But it did make for very warm water and unusual scenery. Typically you would not see the mounds of dirt that you see in my photos below…those mounds are usually under water (which I find mind boggling).
Anyway, we had a fabulous time. We relaxed on the boat, playing lots of board and card games and had a great time floating around in the warm water. The kids also had a blast tubing, water-skiing, knee boarding and jet skiing. I have to admit that I am a bit of a chicken and the only thing I did was jet ski.
If you’ve never gone house boating, I would recommend it. It is like high-end camping. Rustic but not too rustic. 🙂 All the photos were either taken with my new Sony RX100 III (which I LOVE) or my iPhone which I had in a Lifeproof case.
After you’ve checked out my photos, please continue on in our blog circle and take a peek at my friend and fellow photographer Kim’s day.
