Pregnant? A Few Reasons Why You Should Consider Having Maternity Photos Taken

I understand that for some women, the thought of having your photos taken during your pregnancy can make you  feel a bit uncomfortable or queasy (even if you didn’t have a day of morning sickness).  I get that during those last few weeks of your pregnancy you may be feeling tired, swollen and anything but radiant. But I’m here to tell you to put aside those thoughts and focus on what counts…..capturing this fleeting moment in time.

As a mother of four, I wish I would have hired a professional photographer to capture at least one of my pregnancy experiences.  In my case, I felt great during my pregnancies but the idea of posing for professional photos never occurred to me (little did I know I’d start a photography business a decade later). Thankfully, I have candid photos that my husband snapped of my ever growing belly (and boy was it big when I had twins) and I am grateful for those but I wish I had a few photos of my burgeoning belly that were more composed and intentional.

You see, now that I am older (and have a photography business ) I truly believe that your pregnancy should be celebrated with professional photos (and of course all those selfies, iPhone shots, and pictures your partner gets of you) and here is why……

It is a great way to honor you and your amazing self.  Who knew that that tummy of yours could stretch so far?  It truly is mind-boggling how your body can change and having these photos will remind you of your awesomeness!  Plus you deserve the spotlight!

There is something so serene and peaceful about pregnancy.  Capturing quiet moments, cradling your belly like the one below are so special and meaningful.

Having photos of your blooming belly and including older siblings is a great way to celebrate your growing family.   It’s a way to freeze time…you’ll be amazed at how your little one will seem so much older once your newborn arrives.  And oh how I love photos that capture big brothers or sisters interacting with their mommy’s tummy.

Time marches on and before you know it, that little baby of yours that was once in your belly will be old enough to appreciate these photos too.  He will take delight in seeing what you looked like when he was in your belly.

And speaking of time, as you get older (take it from me), the memories of this amazing period in your life will fade and having photos that celebrate your pregnancy will bring back a swell of emotions and memories and I promise you, you will be so happy you took the time to document your pregnancy journey.

Change is hard… but it’s also really good.

After years in Silicon Valley, we made the move to wine country—and it already feels like exactly where we are meant to be. Slower mornings, more space, and a chance to breathe a little deeper.

One thing that pushed us to make the leap was the unexpected loss of a dear friend. Her passing was a heartbreaking reminder that life is short. We don’t always get “someday.”

So here’s your nudge from me: whatever’s on your heart, just do it. Don’t wait. Life is meant to be lived. 💕

Cheers to new chapters, more beauty, and saying yes. 🍷🍇🍷

I should be packing for our move…

But instead, I’m here having a blast at my latest branding shoot!

Swapping cardboard boxes for creativity feels like the right choice, don’t you think?

Packing can wait—this is way more fun.

I have big news to share……

We are moving at the end of the month! Eek! I’ve been quiet here on social media because the last month I have been busy with Goodwill runs, packing and planning! It is a lot of work to pack up a house you’ve lived in for nearly 21 years as a family of six! 😅

But we are trading the hustle and bustle of Silicon Valley for country living in wine country. 🍷🍇

I’ll still be working with clients on branding photo shoots and social media management but it may look a little different.

My husband and I are super excited for this new chapter in our life. And our kids are enthusiastic too! I have a dear friend who has been with me along this journey and while I’m a little nervous about the move (but mostly excited), I keep hearing her words whispered in my ear….”if not now, then when?”

So here we go!!! 🍇🍷🍇🍷
