A Mother/Daughter Photography Scavenger Hunt

I am so happy that my teenage daughter has a passion for photography.   It is a love that we both share and one that connects us.  And these days something that actually gets her out of her room and into the fresh air (and hanging out with me!)  🙂

Over the weekend, we decided to go on a photo walk.  Chloe was game for anything so I suggested we go into San Jose for a change of pace.  We typically find ourselves at local parks and hiking trails, so I thought this would be a fun way to work on architectural and street photography (something out of our norm).  As we were driving into the city, we decided that we would do a photography scavenger hunt.  We brainstormed ideas and Chloe took notes on her iPhone and then texted me the list.

We wanted to make sure our list had a few things that were a bit abstract as well as a few items that would be a little challenging to find.  Here’s what we came up with……

We also decided that our hunt needed a bit of structure and came up with these simple rules:

1.  We could not photograph the exact same thing.  We wanted to make sure we each captured our own version of the prompts.

2.  Not to let our competitive spirit of who could find the item first get in the way of composition.  We agreed that it was more important to take a thoughtful, well composed photo…..although towards the end of our day that rule kinda flew out the window because we just wanted to complete the list.

The afternoon went by quickly and we had such a great time together.  We both managed to find most of the items on our list, although there were a couple that were hard to find….i.e. the toothless smile.  Here is what each of us found (note: the photos are in order of the list above, if we didn’t find something I skipped it and the next image  captured is shown.  To complete the grid, I added a few other favorite shots that were not part of the hunt).

 Chloe’s Finds

Kristina’s Finds

What I didn’t find was a dog (I inserted a fish), a quote, a bumper sticker, bag of trash and a beer bottle.

We loved doing this photo scavenger hunt together so much that we decided we would make it a monthly excursion.  I was even getting carried away with the idea of starting a blog with her but that’s when she threw on the brakes.  I guess I should be happy with the fact that she is willing to go out with me once a month, right?  But doesn’t Chloe & Kristina Click have a nice ring to it?

I should be packing for our move…

But instead, I’m here having a blast at my latest branding shoot!

Swapping cardboard boxes for creativity feels like the right choice, don’t you think?

Packing can wait—this is way more fun.

I have big news to share……

We are moving at the end of the month! Eek! I’ve been quiet here on social media because the last month I have been busy with Goodwill runs, packing and planning! It is a lot of work to pack up a house you’ve lived in for nearly 21 years as a family of six! 😅

But we are trading the hustle and bustle of Silicon Valley for country living in wine country. 🍷🍇

I’ll still be working with clients on branding photo shoots and social media management but it may look a little different.

My husband and I are super excited for this new chapter in our life. And our kids are enthusiastic too! I have a dear friend who has been with me along this journey and while I’m a little nervous about the move (but mostly excited), I keep hearing her words whispered in my ear….”if not now, then when?”

So here we go!!! 🍇🍷🍇🍷

I finally had the chance to take headshots for the lovely Gloria Webb-Williams, founder of Ancient Stones Nurturing Naturals. (@nurturing2bnatural).🌿

Gloria is the heart and soul behind her beautiful brand that’s all about natural, mineral makeup. Her makeup enhances skin tone, giving a more youthful glow. The texture is super fine, so you can build it up for more coverage without it ever feeling heavy or cakey. Just smooth, even color that lets your natural beauty shine through. 🙌

It was such a treat to photograph her—she’s warm, inspiring, and absolutely glowing (inside and out 💫).

So please give her a follow and let her know Kristina sent you. 😊
