10 on 10 December | Tis’ The Season

For the past 7 years I have hosted a little crafting party that my friends and I  loving call a Winter Workshop.  At our Winter Workshop we get together to celebrate the season by doing some sort of holiday craft.  In the past we have decorated candles, made garlands, created table centerpieces and made ornaments.  This year, inspired by a wreath my mom made, we decided to decorate wreaths and (after a late night spent looking for ideas on Pinterest) make holiday banners.

I love crafting and crafting with friends is the best (especially when your sipping mimosas).  Here is a recap of our day……

First up, decorating our wreaths.  I bought fresh wreaths at Trader Joes and a bunch of plastic ornaments at Target.  Using a photo of my mom’s creation, we wired numerous ornaments together and onto our wreaths.  It was a bit more tedious then I thought and I have to admit, there was a little bit of complaining going on, but once the gals got the hang of it they were totally into their project.

After we made our wreaths, we moved on to creating these cute rustic banners.  I purchased burlap cloth (5yds per roll) at Michaels and printed out the words BELIEVE and JOY on my computer.  I also made a triangle template to trace onto the burlap because cutting out a perfect triangle by hand is harder than you’d think.  After cutting out the triangles, we traced the letters onto the burlap using a black sharpie and then strung the letters together using a knitting needle and a piece of twine.  Super easy and fast and SOOO cute!

Here is the finished product.  It is a little hard to read because of the light shining through the window, but at night it looks super cute.  Now continue through our blog circle and check out  Glenda’s  day.
